Website Privacy Policy

We monitor general trends in the use of our web site but do not ever track individual visitors. For example, we do not use cookies on our web site. You can visit all portions of WSIS web site without telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information. By accessing this site, certain information about the Visitor, such as Internet protocol (IP) addresses, navigation through the web site, the software used and the time spent, along with other similar information, will be stored on the ITU servers. These will not specifically identify the Visitor. The information will be used internally only for web site traffic analysis. This information is collected on an aggregate basis only. For example, WSIS Executive Secretariat tracks which pages are most popular among visitors as a whole, but we do not track information on which pages an individual visitor might look at during a visit to our site. We use this information to generate statistics and measure site activity to improve the usefulness of the site to our visitors.

We do not collect information concerning individual visitors unless that information is voluntarily disclosed. We do not collect any information such as the name, mailing address, email address, or phone number of the visitor without the visitor's knowledge and permission. Personally identifiable information, such as name, mailing address, email address, and possibly additional information, that must be provided for specific services or correspondence will not be given to third parties. We do not sell or rent information voluntarily disclosed to us.

At any time, visitors who have signed up for a specific service can have their names removed from the relevant mailing list. Persons who provide an email address via the web site may receive services such as an electronic newsletter. These services include an option to remove your address from the mailing list and you may also opt out by sending an e-mail to WSIS executive secretariat.

Important information on spam and email spoofing/forging. No spam originates from this site. If you have received spam from any of the email addresses below it's most likely due to e-mail spoofing/forging. Spoofing/forging is the practice of changing the sender's name in an email message so that it looks as if it came from another address. If a recipient were to reply to the message, the reply would go to the spoofed address, not to the sender's actual address. Although spoofing can be used legitimately, it is most commonly used by senders of unsolicited commercial email and others who don't want their messages traced back. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done since these senders are just using software to fraudulently create the headers. If you have received spam claiming to be from WSIS Executive Secretariat, please remember these emails are not coming from us, and we can not remove you from any mailing list, except our newsletter (e-flash).
